There is a tightrope of rules
Riddled with ‘musts, oughts and shoulds’.
An addiction to being ‘right’,
Creating a hopeless imbalance.
If one is ‘right’ the default is ‘wrong’
And every conviction sways
On that fault line, seeking
To influence and be understood.
I am neither right nor wrong
I just ‘am’, warts and all,
And be it my fault or flaw
This is my song for an audience of One.
So I return to the crevice
Of the hand that formed me,
Trusting the conviction that His rightness
Will influence me as I tarry a while here.
